PRODUCT Toronto

This blog aims to celebrate the awesome, the unique, the creative, the positive, and the beautiful that surrounds us. It is also very much an ode to our beloved city; no matter how far we travel and and yearn to run away and rave about cities like San Francisco and Buenos Aires, Toronto is home and number one in our hearts.

While reading the Editor’s Letter in Issue 7 of PRODUCT magazine written by Editor-in-Chief and self-titled “Cultural Curator” Kyle Kofsky it became very evident that PRODUCT and For the Love of Awesome are clearly in pursuit of similar goals. Kyle describes the magazine’s mission as profiling the lives of Torontonians who have found success while choosing to live positively and to better their own lives and the lives of those around them, whatever their backgrounds and pursuits.

If you like the topics we cover, you need to get your hands on PRODUCT. Available for free at shops around the city or by registering for a copy in the mail (also free) on their website, PRODUCT profiles the people behind all the great art, culture, food, businesses, fashion and social movements in this city.  Past articles have included interviews with the folks behind Uber taxis in Toronto, promotions company Kleen Media, The Stop Community Food Centre, fashion designer Adrian Wu, and my favourite party-throwers and music marketers in the city, Young Lions Music Club (which we also profiled on the blog here). Each profile is accompanied by beautiful and creative photography, which tells a story in its own right.  For me, this tiny magazine is worth collecting as a piece of art alone.

The team of writers, artists and directors that Kyle has assembled are a testament to his ability to identify talent and attract that special spark of ‘je ne sais quoi’ that is hard to come by in strangers.  Always one to throw a spectacular party, the relaunch of PRODUCT’s website  recently at the Academy Showroom was no different and exemplified what makes this magazine so special.  Taking place during World Master Card Fashion Week and highlighting menswear designer Christopher Bates’ Spring/Summer 2014 collection, magazine staff, media, designers and some of Toronto’s most fashionable mixed and mingled like old friends who just happened to be sipping wine in a giant designer walk in closet.  Several local musical acts provided the background for the evening.
