Gourmet Food & Wine Expo and VIP Giveaway

It’s November.  That grim month between beautiful sunny October and snowy holiday filled December. It’s cold, it gets dark early, the trees are barren and your Hallowe’en stash is getting stale.  To help get us through this dreariest of months, we need something to look forward to.  And what better than gourmet food and wine???  Not much if you ask us.

November 14-17th is the 19th annual Gourmet Food & Wine Expo at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and we want you to join us as VIPs!

GourmetFoodWineExpo620

With over 1,500 beers, wines and spirits to sample, it’s a good thing the Expo is also home to some incredible international cuisine.  Sample tickets must be purchased, but the Expo also features several free events, including cooking demonstrations by celebrity and local chefs and artisanal cheese tasting seminars.  In my experience, pours tend to get increasingly generous as the evening goes on and if you make friends with the right people, those sample tickets can go a long way :)

We’ve been attending this delicious event for several years, but vowed, after arriving on a Friday evening last year to discover a three hour line up, that this year we’d find a better way.  And thanks to Product Magazine we have.

At the magazine’s website launch party on October 17th, we were given a pair of VIP tickets to attend the Expo preview evening on Thursday, November 14th and, thanks to the lovely people at Product, we’ve got 2 pairs of tickets to give away to our awesome readers ($80 value)!  Join us Thursday evening from 6-10pm for an exclusive sneak preview of the Expo before the commoners take over on the weekend.

To enter, leave your name and your favourite wine  in the comments below.  Winners will be drawn at random and announced on the blog on Friday at noon, so don’t forget to check back!  Entry to the show (and therefore the giveaway) is limited to those 19 and over.   Hope to see you there!

  1. @alisoncrocker: Too many faves to count but standout white is Inniskillin Late Autumn Riesling, and Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet.

  2. My favourite wine is the 2001 Chateau Des Gravieres Bordeaux. It’s not the best tasting wine I’ve ever had but it brings back the fondest memories of my family and I enjoying a wonderful dinner in a Parisien bistro and drinking multiple bottles of this Bordeaux and consuming the freshest, most delicious baguettes we’ve ever had.

  3. My favourite wine is Ontario’s Henry of Pelham Estate Cabernet Merlot 2010. It’s full bodied & smooth. Perfect with my lamb roast from a local farmer ! ( Jan Dempsey)

  4. Prosecco. All kinds, particularly Bottega, because I’m usually imbibing in Canada and not in Italy, where you can get even more delicious, small batches of refined Prosecco. A handsome Italian man to pour it for me is also my preference.

  6. I love a good spicy red from South America. Saurus Malbec from Patagonia is robust and flavourful (and named after the dinosaur bones found on the vineyard property!)
